3. Google Fit Data Collection

When you authorize ShapeChangers to access your Google Fit data, we request the following permissions:

  • Physical Activity Data (fitness.activity.read): We read your daily step count to display it on your Dashboard, track activity habits, award daily points and maintain your streak.
  • Body Measurements Data (fitness.body.read): We read body measurement data such as weight logged in Google Fit to supplement your manual weight entries and populate your progress tracking charts.
  • Sleep Data (fitness.sleep.read): We read your sleep duration and patterns to log them as a daily habit metric and provide health and recovery recommendations.

How we use this data: Google Fit data is used solely within the ShapeChangers application to help you track your fitness progress, maintain an accurate daily habit log, and provide personalised health recommendations. We do not share, sell, or transfer this data to any third parties.

Data storage: Your Google Fit data is stored securely in your ShapeChangers account and is never shared with other users or third parties. You can disconnect Google Fit access at any time from the Settings page, which immediately stops all future syncs. You may also request deletion of all your data at any time.

Google API Limited Use: ShapeChangers' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the application
  • Track your fitness progress and health metrics
  • Send notifications and updates (with your consent)
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your personal and health data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Third-Party Services

We integrate with Google Fit to retrieve your step count and sleep data. Your access tokens are securely stored and never shared with other parties. Google's privacy policies apply to data you authorize through Google Fit.
